18/10/2011: Concert "Ave Maria - A Hymn to the Virgin"
October 27th 2011 the Vienna Chamber Choir is going to present its concert "Ave Maria - A Hymn to the Virgin" at Michaelerkirche, 1010 Vienna. The choir therby focuses on the Hail Mary and gives a musical overview from romanticism to modernity. Among others musical works by Anton Bruckner, Benjamin Britten, Sergej Rachmaninoff and Franz Liszt will be presented.

When J.F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, Leonard Bernstein worked on his third final Kaddish Symphony, which he then devoted to the President: "To the beloved memory of John F. Kennedy". Nearly ten years later, Bernstein was at the opening ceremonies of the JFKennedy Center in Washington in 1971 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis commissioned to measure.
Mass is based on the Latin Mass of the Roman Catholic Church. Bernstein breaks his setting of the fixed liturgy, again and again with uncommon elements of jazz, blues and rock. A production of the Neue Oper Wien and the Osterklang. Premiere on 17.4.11 at 20.00 in the Semper Depot.

The Wiener Kammerchor goes to Malaga, Spain, to perform just before Christmas on 21st of Dec Camille Saint-Saens's "Oratorio de Noel" und Johann Sebastian Bach's "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" in cooperation with the "Österreichisch-Ungarische Haydnphilharmonie".
